Vikes Retreat in Courtenay
The UVIC Vikes womens team spent the weekend at Mount Washington. We did a clinic for the basketball girls in the local area at GP Vanier Secondary on Friday night and Saturday morning. We would like to thank John Lewis for organizing everything for us and the girls at the clinic for the great energy and effort over the two days - it was a lot of basketball. We loved working with you and hope to come up again soon. The Vikes played an intersquad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon which showcased a very promising team for the 2013-2014 season.

After the intersquad scrimmage on Saturday afternoon, we headed back up to the lodge on Mount Washington for a team dinner and a night of games. The girls worked together to cook a delicious meal and then we spent the night playing minute to win it games. There were definitely a few laughs and we got to discover some unique talents that we didn't know certain players had.

Back to School & Back to Team Practice
The first week of school is done and the Vikes are competing hard in the gym! We've had great energy all week and have seen improvement in a lot of girls over the summer. Yesterday we did some strength and fitness testing. We ran the beep test and had some great scores with Jenna Bugiardini, Shaylyn Crisp and Jessica Renfrew all getting top scores of 11.5. Jenny Lewis also had an impressive team high 50 consecutive push ups.
